HOW DOES TIRZEPATIDE WORK?

Tirzepatide works by targeting the dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, making it the first weight loss and diabetes care medication that targets 2 receptor agonists. These processes slow down digestion, improve glycemic control and help people feel more full for longer after eating meals. All of this can lead to body weight reduction and weight control.

GIP is a hormone that stimulates the release of insulin, which not only helps control blood sugar levels, but also promotes muscle growth by encouraging protein build-up and discouraging protein breakdown in muscle tissue.

Tirzepatide works by allowing GIP and GLP-1 to stimulate the pancreas to increase the amount of insulin released in response to meals, encouraging healthy blood glucose regulation.

tirzepatide FAQ

  • Tirzepatide is a medication that contributes to weight loss by mimicking the action of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors, signaling satiety and reducing appetite. It works by decreasing appetite, prolonging feelings of fullness, and modulating fat utilization.

  • Your health and safety are our top priorities. As part of our program, we require blood work after your first 4 months and every 6 months thereafter.

This routine blood work allows our medical team to:

    • Monitor your overall health and ensure your body is responding well to the program.

    • Identify any potential deficiencies or changes that may arise.

    • Adjust your treatment plan as needed for optimal, long-term results.

  • The most common side effects include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, and headache. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are particularly common when starting treatment or during dose increases, but these symptoms typically improve over time for most patients. We’re here to help manage any symptoms you may experience. Many side effects can be alleviated with medication or simple lifestyle adjustments, such as staying hydrated, replenishing electrolytes, and making dietary changes. Our team is committed to supporting you every step of the way to ensure your treatment is as comfortable and effective as possible.

  • Tirzepatide typically shows weight loss effects after sustained treatment at a therapeutic dose. Here's a brief timeline:

Initial Effects: Many individuals start noticing weight loss effects with tirzepatide relatively early in their treatment, but the exact timeframe can vary due to factors like dosage and individual response.

Sustained Treatment: Participants in studies achieved a significant weight reduction of 20.9% after 36 weeks of taking Tirzepatide at the maximum tolerated dose.

Intensive Lifestyle Intervention: Another study showed an additional 21.1% weight loss after 12 weeks of intensive lifestyle intervention alongside tirzepatide.

Long-Term Maintenance: Continued treatment for 36 weeks with tirzepatide maintained weight loss, highlighting its efficacy for sustained results.

Tirzepatide demonstrates weight loss effects with noticeable changes during sustained treatment, especially over several weeks.

  • Tirzepatide will be prescribed as a weekly injection. Injections should be administered every 7 days. One injection should be administered on the same day each week. Tirzepatide is started at a low dose that is gradually increased so it is important you use the medication exactly as directed. Do not increase any dose prior to 4 weeks.

  • No. Tirzepatide is not covered by insurance. Fortunately, we are able to offer our compounded medication at a very competitive, low price.
